Las Patronas

In August 2015 I had the wonderful opportunity of spending some time with Las Patronas, a group of exceptional women in a small town in Veracruz, Mexico. These women feed migrants as they travel on the roof of freight trains heading north to the US in search of a better life.

My latest series is dedicated to Las Patronas and the migrants who embark on this perilous journey. Here are some pictures of very special times I spent there. I feel blessed that I will be visiting them again in a couple of weeks.

Working on my new series "Las Patronas"

Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to visit "Las Patronas", a group of amazing women in a small village of Veracurz, Mexico, who carry out one of the most loving acts of kindness: feed poor migrants travelling atop of a freight train in search of a better lif.  I'm creating a new series to honor these wonderful women and the migrants who embark on a a very risky journey as they head north to the US  to find work and better opportunities away from home.

Painting Live Demo @ the de Young Museum, San Francisco on Oct 9, 2015 to celebrate ArtSpan San Francisco Open Studios 40th Anniversary

What a spectacular night it was! I’m so deeply honored to have joined ArtSpan in an awesome live painting event at the de Young Museum last night to celebrate SF Open Studios 40th Anniversary. Thank you SO much and Renee Baldocchi for this wonderful opportunity and thank you everyone that came out to the museum to show their support. This certainly has been one of the highlights of my life and of my career as an artist.
